I shall start with a quote “History is Written by the Winners.” Napoléon Bonaparte. Most Military men, kings, generals or others have written about the various wars from their own prospectiveness. Since mankind walked the earth they have fought each other throughout a violent history, there are winners and there are losers. According to the Bible, in Abrahamic religions Cain and Abel were two of the sons of Adam and Eve. They worked as food producers for their family; Cain was a crop farmer, and Abel was a shepherd. When they sacrificed to God, A jealous God favoured Abel's sacrifice over Cain's. Later, Cain killed Abel, committing the first murder. In Exodus 20:5, it is not that God is jealous or envious because someone has something God wants or needs. Exodus 20:4-5 says, “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God...” Notice that God is jealous when someone gives to another something that rightly belongs to God, maybe religion causes war and death.
So throughout history’s long struggle with wars and death, different Gods were invoked on either side to interceded on the winner side, calling upon their own deity or spirit in prayer, as a witness, or for inspiration, to pray to, call upon, appeal to, plead with, supplicate, entreat, solicit, beseech, beg, implore, importune, petition, call for, request, closing their eyes to the heaven above and invoked their gods to help. Military history is a humanities discipline within the scope of general historical recording of armed conflict in the history of humanity, and its impact on the societies, their cultures, economies and changing intra and international relationships. Military history and wars are always slanted, its who is telling the history and why, and what purpose. Professional historians normally focus on military affairs that had a major impact on the societies involved as well as the aftermath of conflicts, while amateur historians and hobbyists often take a larger interest in the details of battles, equipment and uniforms in use. The essential subjects of military history study are the causes of war, the social and cultural foundations, military doctrine on each side, the logistics, leadership, technology, strategy, and tactics used, and how these changed over time. On the other hand, Just War Theory explores the moral dimensions of warfare, and to better limit the destructive reality caused by war, seeks to establish a doctrine of military ethics.
The word 'war' comes to English by the old High German language word 'Werran’ to confuse or to cause confusion through the Old English 'Werre' meaning the same, and is a state of open and usually declared armed conflict between political entities such as sovereign states or between rival political or social factions within the same state. In one of my 17th. century Pamphlets “The Good of Peace and Ill of VVARRE” 1642…so VVARRE is War. The Prussian military analyst Carl Von Clausewitz, in his book On War, calls it, “Continuation of Politics carried on by other means.” In early history, individuals, states, or political factions have gained sovereignty over lands through the use of brutal war. Early History of man is a chronicle of nearly constant strife. War grew naturally out of the tribe mentality and their gods. The first war recorded in history took place in Mesopotamia, in the middle east. At the same time in another written record a campaign, by King Gilgamesh of Uruk marched on his neighbours in order to procure wood for construction of a temple. And we still fight stupid wars everyday.
