1. Tyndale’s New Testament, in English--The First New Testament Printed
in the English Language (1525 or 1526) Translated from the Greek by
William Tyndale. Reproduced in Facsimile on Vellum. Edited by Francis
Fry. Bristol: printed for the editor, 1862.?
But there are a few major differences. There is no doubt that this copy of
Tyndale’s 1526 and the one by Francis Fry, published in 1862 are from
Tyndale’s 1526 edition.
I don’t know when this edition was published, no date, but this copy of
Tyndale’s 1526 has over 154 Vellum Pages;- 308 Vellum Pages in total,
front and back, and all in colour Vellum pages,(calf skin) not
paper. Including the Title -Page dated 1526.
This New Testament only has the Four Evangelists;- Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John;- Woodcut title ornament, illustration, headpieces and initials, and
lithographic coloured facsimile illustrations. Illuminated with numerous
miniatures in gold and colours, and initials and chapter and verse markings
in gold, blue, and red lined ruled each Vellum page. Black stitched leather
binding, with leather ties. Difficult to open the vellum book completely, as
you would open a paper edition, I think something to do with age. Still a
stunning copy of a very rare New Testament of 1526.
